We are extremely happy to welcome you to our family web page. We would like to share with you some of our interesting historical past and also explain some of our varied current activities. We have detailed genealogical charts that date back to 1480; we would love to find more interested undiscovered relatives.
While our genealogical records begin in 1480 in Rosenfeld, Germany, most of our detailed charts start with Tobias Friderick Tafel, born in Tuebingen on the Neckar River, Germany, in 1612. Extensive immigration to America began in the middle of the 19th century and we now have many relatives scattered over the United States, Canada and Mexico.
We formed an International Tafel Family Association in 1974 with two branches, the Tafel'sche Familienverband for Europe and the Tafel Family Association of North America. We have many relatives in Europe.
We hold an international Tafel Family reunion every two years, alternating between Europe and North America to which all Tafel Family Association members are welcome.
Since our family is so large, we have divided it into Branches, with a Family Branch Representative heading each group. While the international family is divided into eight branches, our North American Association has six Branches, with a potential seventh available. These Branches are defined by ancestral lineage, relatives that share common ancestors.
