East Flagstaff Road - Avery Peak

Move your mouse across the pictures for more information.

20.0 MM. This is East Flagstaff Road. Road access and parking is located here. Going southbound it is a long stretch broken up into two strenuous day hikes traversing the Bigelow Range before the next road crossing. This is some of the prettiest mountain range hiking you will come across. See the next few photos of the spectacular scenery you will view. Courtesy askus3@optonline.net

mm 28.3 - This is the summit area of Bigelow-Avery Peak. Flagstaff Lake and the mountain's boarded up fire tower are featured in this photo. What a spectacular location. This summit I climbed twice from both sides as here I split a 16 mile stretch of the AT without road access into two dayhikes. (Update(2012). Only the foundations of the firetwoer remain.) 28.3 MM. We had such a spectacular cloudless day when we hiked over the Bigelows. Here from the summit of Avery Peak you look northwest over a large expanse of Flagstaff Lake with mountains and forests beyond to the horizon. Courtesy askus3@optonline.net
