Summit of Mt. Washington - South Side of Mt. Washington

Move your mouse across the pictures for more information.

Leaving the actual summit of Mt. Washington, the northbound AT follows a short trail called the Trinity Connector to the Gulfside Trail. This is a view of Adams and Jefferson from that stretch of trail. Mt. Madison is partially hidden behind the summit buildings on the right. Taken at approx. mm 13.3. mm 13.4 - True summit of Mt. Washington. The "wild" nature of the AT is somewhat compromised here by the fact that there are buildings all about including a gift store and snack shop. Courtesy dlcul@conncoll.edu

View south from west side of Mt. Washington. This was actually taken from the blue-blazed West Side Trail. It shows Lake of the Clouds Hut which the AT passes and Mt. Monroe (the peak behind the hut) which the AT skirts to the east. The southbound AT mostly follows the ridge of the Southern Presidentials to Crawford Notch State Park. Courtesy dlcul@conncoll.edu
