Dirt parking lot on the North side of NY 301 .2 miles from the AT next to Canopus Lake. This provides additional AT parking, but it is also the trail head for the Three Lakes Trail which goes to the right just beyond the Route 301 sign. Taken at approx. MM 7.3. Courtesy froto

For 0.7 miles south of Rte. 301, the AT follows an old railroad grade in Fahnestock State Park. This was left over from the iron mining days in the 19th century. Note the extensive rockwork under the trail bed. Taken at approx. MM 0.6. Courtesy dlcul@conncoll.edu
