mm 15.4 Because of efforts to remedy the devastation caused by zinc smelting in Palmerton, there is a temporary 4 mile detour of the AT from Little Gap to just North of the Winter Trail (mm 19.3). The old road which the AT followed is now being used by trucks in the recovery effort. Note: There is little water in this

Most of the pictures from Little Gap to the upper junction with the Winter Trail are on the original route of the trail as it was in 2006. Pictures of the relocated trail are collected onto a separate page. Plans are to go back to the original route once the remediation project is finished.
