Laurel and trail sign just trail north of parking area at Bearwallow Gap (Mile 6.6). Due to a recent reroute, this is now on a spur trail leading to the new route.

mm 6.6 Parking on VA 43 on north side of Blue Ridge Parkway. The southbound trail used to follow the road for a short distance here then go left into the woods. The northbound trail re-entered the woods at this parking area. A recent reroute avoids the road walk. The old route northbound is now a spur trail to the new trail. GPS N37.4843 W79.6685
