The trail follows this old road on top of the ridge of Brush Mountain for 1.4 miles. Taken at approx. mm 11.2

mm 11.7 Audie Murphy Monument, reached by a short blue-blazed trail from the AT. Murphy was a highly decorated World War II veteran and later movie actor who was killed in a plane crash near here. Hikers have crated an unofficial monument of rocks next to the official one.
