mm 11.6 At this point, the southbound trail goes left off the old road and continues as a foot path, starting the long descent to Kimberling Creek and VA 612.

mm 12.7 The northbound AT follows VA 612 across I-77 and continues on the road to the hiker parking area. That can be be partially seen on the right. There the trail goes back into the woods and starts to ascend Brushy Mt.
