 Go south on GA 17/ 75 11.6 miles from Hiawassee or north 9.2 miles from Helen to a large parking area on the east side of the road. The street view on the attached map show the parking area. The northbound trail leaves from the south end of the parking area and goes east towards Section 12 and Dicks Creek Gap. The southbound trail to Section 13 crosses the parking area to the north end, goes left (west) to cross the highway and re-enter the woods. Chattahoochee Gap		   Poor           Great




 The Jacks Gap or Jacks Knob Trail runs from near Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia, to the AT. Midway it crosses GA 180 which is considered to the trailhead here. Follow GA 17/75 6.3 miles south from Hiawassee or 7.4 miles north from Helen to GA 180. Go west on this. The intersection with the GA 180 Spur leads to Brasstown Bald in in 5.3 miles. The satellite view on the attached map shows what appears to be roadside parking on the spur just past the intersection. The marker on the tap indicates where the southbound trail to the AT leaves the highway. Rotate the view to the east to see this trail head. This blue-blazed Side Trail leads east the south 2.4 miles to the AT at Chattahoochee Gap. At the gap the northbound AT goes left, the southbound right 01/01/10 Several in roadside parking

From Helen GA go north on GA 17/75 for about 1.5 miles to near Robertstown. Go left on GA 75 ALT. In 2.3 miles go right on GA 348 and continue 7.0 miles to Hogpen Gap. The parking area on the NW side of the road.

Note: there are TWO overlooks nearby. These are NOT parking areas. 		The right turn off of Rt 75A is also referred to as Richard B Russell Scenic Highway.

Northbound trailhead is behind the kiosk. Southbound runs southwest along the back of the parking area, parallels the highway for about 200 feet, then crosses the street to begin the ascent of Wildcat Mountain.

 From Helen GA go north on GA 17/75 for about 1.5 miles to near Robertstown. Go left on GA 75 ALT. In 2.3 miles go right on GA 348 (also known as Richard B Russell Scenic Highway) and continue 7.6 miles to Tesnatee Gap. There is a parking area on the left (south side) of the road. This is a deep parking area perpendicular to the road. The southbound trail goes west from the parking area. The northbound AT goes east and begins to climb Wildcat Mountain.
