See Mile 6.3 for directions to the trail crossing of VT 140. There is a large parking lot just north of this crossing. The entrance is 0.2 miles further east on VT 140. From the west it is a sharp left turn. The parking area is indicated by the marker on the satellite view of the attached map.
The northbound AT/LT climbs the hill on the north side of VT 140 to the parking lot, crosses it and continues up a wood road on the north side. 09/08/17 15-20

WARNING: Multiple break-ins reported at this parking lot (2008, 8/25/2009 and 5/30/2012).
The parking lot is remote and I usually recommend hikers concerned about parking contact the Wallingford Town Hall for other overnight alternatives in Town, then thumb a ride up. 05/17/19

The trail crossing is 2.7 miles east of US 7 in Wallingford and 3.3 miles west of the junction of VT 103 and 155 in East Wallingford. While there is pull-off space for 2-3 cars. parking at the trail crossing is difficult at best. Far better parking is available nearby. (See Mile 6.2 including the attached map. The actual crossing of VT 140 is not obvious on the map.)

Sugar Hill Road

GPS: 43.454778,-72.935626
From the intersection of US 7 and VT 140 in Wallingford, go east on the latter for 2.3 miles, then go right on Sugar Hill Road. The trail crossing is 0.3-0.4 miles further along this gravel road. This is a very narrow road with no parking available. It would be fine for a quick pick-up or drop-off. Otherwise see Mile Marker 6.2 above.
The northbound AT/LT (towards VT 140) descends to the north from the crossing. The southbound trail (towards White Rocks and Little Rock Pond) ascends to the south. 05/26/19 0

Green Mt. Trail/Homer Stone Brook Trail
   Poor           Great

The official trail head for the Green Mountain Trail is at the Big Branch Picnic Area on USFS 10, which is 0.6 miles west of the AT/LT parking lot (See Mile 14.4). There is presumably parking there but I have not checked this. The trail can also be accessed from the AT/LT parking lot. The Green Mt. Trail is part of a popular loop trail. The AT/LT is followed to Little Rock Pond and then this trail going over Green Mt. (the peak on the west side of the pond) is followed back. From the parking area at the picnic area, the trail goes north, passing the connector to the AT/LT lot in 0.1 miles. (This connector is 0.6 miles long and generally parallels USFS 10). The Green Mt. Trail continues over Green Mt., passing the junction with the Little Rock Pond Loop Trail and then joining the Homer Stone Brook Trail shortly before reaching the AT/LT at the north end of Little Rock Pond. Total length from the picnic area is 4.1 miles, 4.6 miles from the AT/LT parking lot. 08/16/06 10-12 at AT-LT lot and not known at picnic area.

I have not checked out this trail or the trailhead. Information from the GMC 'Long Trail Guide' 25th edition. Go east on Hartsboro Road from US 7 in South Wallingford. This is 4.2 miles south of VT 140 in Wallingford. Cross railroad tracks then bear right on Homer Stone Road. Continue to an old school house. Parking is available in the lot for the school. Apparently there are plans to relocate the trail head to 1/4 mile south of the school house. It is 2.7 miles to the AT/LT. 08/17/06 Number not known

Directions are spot on. After crossing R.R. Tracks turn right and continue shortly to shed-like building on left. There is a large sign for the Homer Stone Brook Trail. There is a well marked blue-blazed trail that ascends steeply at times to Little Rock Pond. There is a There is a well marked blue-blazed trail that ascends steeply, especially near the end, to Little Rock Pond. There is a ford along the way that was not hard to cross in lower level water. 08/27/17 4-5
